In selecting texts, please recognize that students should not be asked to spend money for instructional materials that will receive only minimal use. Also, texts will need to integrate the WOVE philosophy by including oral, visual, and electronic modes as well as featuring a pleasing visual format.<\/p>\n<p>Rhetorics, readers, and handbooks on the English 150 and 250 textbook lists are available for perusal in the ISUComm Foundation Communication Courses Office in 229 Ross Hall.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>ISUComm Student Guide<\/em> for English\u00a0150 and 250.<\/strong> The <em>ISUComm Student Guide<\/em> is displayed in the ISU bookstore as a required text for every English\u00a0150 and 250 section; it cannot be sold back and it is labeled this way on the shelf and on the text itself. This publication, revised every other year, constitutes a coherent articulation of ISUComm\u2019s purpose and curriculum in the Foundation Courses: it is the programmatic statement for your students that explains what their English\u00a0150 and 250 classes will entail, why, and how this is consistent with other English\u00a0150 and 250 sections.<\/p>\n<p>Your students need the Student Guide to facilitate their understanding of Iowa State\u2019s progressive multimodal curriculum in your classes, as there is no other text available that is tailored to our unique program. The <em>Student Guide<\/em> provides programmatic (rather than individual section) information to your students: this is very important to them in terms of understanding overarching goals and pedagogy as well as programmatic policies.
