The Honors sections of English 250, taught only during the Fall semester, incorporate high academic standards, thematic connections, and innovative projects. Readings (primarily nonfiction) and assignments may be tailored to a semester-long theme. A large majority of First-Year Honors students intend to major in a STEM discipline, a fact that may influence instructors’ choice of theme. Honors students take this course as part of a 5-credit core in the first semester, and may not test out. More information about the Honors program is available on its website.
