English 250 focuses on argument and persuasion as a way of preparing students to participate in academic life and in their future careers. Students analyze arguments, respond to arguments, and construct their own arguments. Hence, the course is aimed at enabling students to improve (1) their critical reading skills by summarizing texts and by analyzing and evaluating the appropriateness of texts for particular audiences and (2) their communication skills by constructing persuasive texts and using sources to support the arguments in these texts.
