Midterm Grades. Midterm grade reports are submitted online. Only C- grades or lower are reported, and midterm grades do not become part of a student’s record. In addition to the online report, most English 150 and 250 instructors notify students privately about midterm grades. During that meeting, the instructor should explain to the student that midterm grades are not official and that a midterm grade does not preclude a better final course grade. Some instructors are more conservative on midterm grades than on final grades to ensure that borderline students understand the level of effort needed in the second half of the semester to receive a satisfactory grade in the course.
When you receive a midterm grade notice, check AccessPlus for errors in your class roster. If you find any, report them to the ISUComm Foundation Courses Office. Even if you have no students with a C- or lower, you must submit the electronic report by the specified deadline.
Changing a Grade after the Semester. After final grades have been received, students will sometimes consult with you about a possible error in their final grades. If you have made an error in computing a grade, you may obtain a Grade Report to the Registrar form in the ISUComm Foundation Courses Office, 229 Ross Hall. This is the only reason an instructor may change a student’s grade after the semester is over. Such grade changes (due to error) in English 150 or 250 must be approved by the Director of ISUComm Foundation Courses before being submitted for processing.
