In this tutorial, you will learn how to set up a scheduler in ISUComm Courses. Scheduler allows you to schedule appointments or individual conference with your students. After adding a scheduler to your course page, you will see the following page for the basic set up.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-12-at-9.23.42-AM1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2953\" src=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-12-at-9.23.42-AM1.png\" alt=\"add scheduler screenshot4\" width=\"391\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1) <strong> Name:<\/strong> Type a name for the event in the &#8220;Name&#8221; input field.<br \/>\n2) <strong>Introduction:<\/strong> Write a short description about the event in the &#8220;Introduction&#8221; field.<br \/>\n3) <strong>Role name of the teacher:<\/strong> Type in your role as Instructor.<br \/>\n4) <strong>Mode:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For a one-time event (e.g. individual conference after an assignment), select &#8220;Students can register 1 appointment <strong>in this scheduler<\/strong>.&#8221; This is probably what most teachers want to use if you are doing one-time conferences for<\/li>\n<li>For a recurring event, select &#8220;Students can register 1 appointment(s) at a time.&#8221; This option allows students to re-register after you have marked them off as having attended an appointment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2015\/01\/scheduler.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3718\" src=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2015\/01\/scheduler.png\" alt=\"add scheduler screenshot5\" width=\"703\" height=\"215\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5) <strong>Reuse guard time<\/strong>: set as default (24 hours)<br \/>\n6) <strong>Default slot duration: <\/strong>set the duration of a single slot (e.g. 15 minutes, or 20 minutes)<br \/>\n7) <strong>Grade &amp; Grading strategy: <\/strong>Choose a grading option if you want to grate this activity.<br \/>\n8) <strong>Notification: <\/strong>Set &#8220;Yes&#8221; if you want you and your students to receive emails when the students apply for, change, or cancel an appointment.<\/p>\n<p>Click on &#8220;Save Changes&#8221; for the basic set up.<br \/>\nIt will take you to the following page.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 id=\"s3\"><strong>Step 3: Set up specific dates, times for events<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are two ways to add appointment slots: 1) Add slots and 2) Add single slot. <a href=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-17-at-9.54.40-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2980\" src=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-17-at-9.54.40-AM.png\" alt=\"add scheduler screenshot6\" width=\"518\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 id=\"s4\"><strong>Step 3-1. Add Slots<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>5. To add multiple appointment slots, click on &#8220;Add slots&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Date &amp; Repeat Time Slot:<\/strong> If you want set up multiple appointments during specific periods, you can set up the periods in Date and Repeat Time Slot Until section.<\/p>\n<p><em>(e.g. the appointments will begin on November 10 and end on November 14, 2014.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Add appointments on<\/strong>: You can also set up the days for the appointment.<br \/>\n<em>(e.g. The appointments will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday).<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>3) Start time &amp; End time: <\/strong>You can set up Start and End time.<br \/>\n<strong>4) Divide into slots: <\/strong>Set &#8216;Yes&#8217; as default<br \/>\n<strong>5) Duration<\/strong>: You can set up the duration of each appointment (<em>e.g. the appointment will be held for 20 minutes per student)<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>6) Break between slots:<\/strong> You can set up break between each slot <em>(e.g. there is a 5 minute break between each slot)<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>7) Force when overlap:<\/strong> Set No as default<br \/>\n<strong>8) Allow multiple students per slot:<\/strong> It allows multiple students to choose the same slot. For individual conference, you may want one student to sign up for a single slot. <em>(e.g. I allow one student to sign up for the appointment)<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>9) Reuse this slot:<\/strong> Set Yes as default. You can allow several students to sign up for one slot. If a student or you revoke an appointment, the freed slot can be re-used<br \/>\n<strong>10) Location:<\/strong> Add the place for the appointment<br \/>\n<strong>11) Teacher:<\/strong> You name will be displayed as default<br \/>\n<strong>12) Display appointment to students from:<\/strong> It allows students to view their appointments<br \/>\n<strong>13) Email a reminder:<\/strong> A reminder email is sent to your students.<br \/>\nClick on [Save Changes] to set the slots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-12-at-9.26.33-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2974\" src=\"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2155\/2014\/11\/Screen-Shot-2014-11-12-at-9.26.33-AM.png\" alt=\"add scheduler screenshot7\" width=\"286\" height=\"373\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2 id=\"s5\"><strong>Step 3-2. You can select a certain student for the appointment in this module.
