{"id":261,"date":"2017-08-11T23:43:44","date_gmt":"2017-08-11T23:43:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/courses-instructors\/?page_id=261"},"modified":"2017-08-25T16:01:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-25T16:01:00","slug":"advanced-forum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/courses-instructors\/advanced-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Advanced Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In this tutorial you will learn how to create and use <strong>advanced forums<\/strong> (i.e., discussion boards) on your Moodle course site.<\/p>\n<p>Before you begin, you might want to consider the differences between <a href=\"https:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/creating-a-forumdiscussion-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forums<\/a> and advanced forums.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, advanced forums can do everything that <a href=\"https:\/\/support.isucomm.iastate.edu\/creating-a-forumdiscussion-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">forums<\/a> can do plus more. Here are some of the enhanced features available in advanced forums:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>See posting statistics:\u00a0<\/strong>View the number of posts\/replies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grade forums easily: <\/strong>Grade student posts from within the forum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allow anonymous forums: <\/strong>Users can post\/reply anonymously and still receive credit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Subscribe more directly: <\/strong>Subscribe to specific topics within a forum rather than the entire forum.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Highlight posts:<\/strong> Make certain\u00a0posts stand out from others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Send a private reply:<\/strong> Send a private reply to a forum post so that only the original poster can view it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you feel that Advanced Forums is for you, then please continue reading. You can learn more about all of these options by clicking on the question mark icon next to each category.
