Add URL

Welcome! In this tutorial, you will learn how to add URL.

Step 1.

Select the week that you want your students to access the link.
Click on the “Add an activity or resource” button.

Select “URL” and click on “Add” button.

Step 2.

Fill out the form, supplying the required information for each section.
  • Name – Give your URL link a name and description.
  • Description – For your students to be able to view the description, check the “Display description on course page” box.
  • Content – Type in the actual URL address.
If you’ve previously placed the link on the file picker on ISUComm Courses, you may select the link by clicking the “Choose a link…” button.

Step 3.

In “Appearance”, you will select how your URL will appear to your students. First, click on the box next to “Display” to open the drop-down menu and select your preferred display style.

  • Automatic – when the URL link is selected, the user will be directed to a separate page with the complete link available to click on and then taken to the website.
  • Embed – students who click on the URL link will be taken to the selected website. (Note: This option may not work in all browsers).
  • New Window – when the URL link is selected, students will be automatically taken to the website by way of another window opening on their browser.
  • Open – The website will automatically open in the same window.
  • In pop-up – The website will appear in a pop-up window. For this option, you can specify the height and width of the pop-up window by clicking the “Show advanced” button.

Step 4.

Click on “Save and return to course” to go back to your course page.
Click on “Save and display” to view your added URL.
